A New Gillette Man?
You bet! Ricky Rubio is the latest athlete to appear in a Gillette ad, which has featured such athletes at Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, Barcelona striker Thierry Henry, and all-everything golfer Tiger Woods. Not a bad list to join, especially before playing in a single NBA game.

Back in June, Rubio was drafted fifth in the NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. After playing extremely well in the Olympics and helping lead Spain to the Gold Medal game before losing to the United States, Rubio has been getting more hype than Miley Cyrus’ pole dancing at the Teen Choice Awards.
Much has been made about Rubio buying out his current contract with DKV Joventut in order to play in the NBA. It is estimated that DKV Joventut wants somewhere between $4-6.5 million even though he made around $120,000 last year. As a result of a clause in the NBA’s collective bargaining agreement, the T’Wolves are only allowed to contribute up to $500,000 towards the buyout.
Hopefully this new endorsement deal (along with his Nike deal) will get him to the States sooner rather than later to play against the top young point guards such as Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams, and Devin Harris.
