Ryan Forehan-Kelly

Irvine, CA – On Monday, July 20, Scafati Basket out of Naples, Italy signed Ryan Forehan-Kelly to a 1-year contract.

I was there when he signed the contract and he can’t wait to get out there and continue to show his diverse skills, killer 3-point shooting, and winning ways. “Off to Italia,” Forehan-Kelly announced as he happily signed on the dotted line.

Last year, the 6-6 guard/forward played his first full professional season in the United States for the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the NBDL averaging 12.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 48% behind the arc and over 50% from the field. He started off the season with an achilles injury, but once fully healthy he averaged 18.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in his final 11 games and shot 50% from the 3-point line.

This international basketball journeyman has taken his game to countries such as Croatia, France, Venezuela, and twice to China, where he was an All-Star and led the Jiangsu Dragons to the league championship. He is now preparing for another successful trip back to the European Leagues and looks forward to playing in Scafati, which is located close to both the Mediterranean Sea and the infamous Mount Vesuvius.

The Orange County, CA native played four seasons at UC-Berkeley, helping the Bears win the 1999 NIT Championship and several bids to the NCAA March Madness Tournament. He finished his career as the fourth all-time leading three-point shooter in Cal history (.407) and picked up a pair of Top Defensive Player honors along the way.
