Knicks Sign Gabe Pruitt

Gabe Pruitt Boston Celtics

The New York Knicks have signed former Boston Celtics point guard Gabe Pruitt. Per team policies (the Knicks actually follow some?), the terms of the contract have not been disclosed. He likely signed a one-year deal or a two-year deal with a team option.

As somebody who watched him play at USC, I can say that Gabe has a lot of upside. He is not afraid to take the big shot and thrived on that in college. With Nick Young & Taj Gibson, he helped lead the Trojans to the Sweet 16 in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, including a win over Kevin Durant’s Texas squad.

He played very little in Boston (2.0 points & 0.8 assists in 7.4 minutes per game over 2 years), but is only 23 years old. He might be a little skinny (170 pounds), but stands at 6-4 and is quick as lightning. He also has an NBA Championship ring and has been surrounded by winners & future HOFers throughout his young NBA career, which is something the Knicks need.

In the D’Antoni offense, he should be able to take his game to the next level like other lesser known point guards (read: Chris Duhon).

Fast, smart, and can shoot…sounds like the perfect match.

It is true, but thanks for commenting. Knicks GM Donnie Walsh confirmed it. I hope he gets some PT.
