Anthony Carter on the Denver Nuggets

In a time when athletes usually bolt at the first whiff of extra money, it is refreshing to see a player choose loyalty over greed. Anthony “AC” Carter re-signed today with the Denver Nuggets, which pleased everybody in the Denver organization. “AC’s loyalty to [owner] Stan Kroenke, George Karl, and Denver is exemplary,” said Nuggets executive Mark Warkentien in a statement to the Associated Press.

The 34-year old guard has played in the NBA for 10 seasons and next year will be his fourth in Denver. They are returning all of their starters and key reserves (minus Linus Kleiza who is now playing in Greece) and should be at the top of the loaded West again this year.

Last season, AC averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in 78 games, while only registering 22.9 minutes per game. He is one of the few players in the NBA to come out of the University of Hawaii where he averaged 18.4 points and 7.0 assists per game over his two year career. He transferred to Hawaii from Saddleback Community College in California.

He has spent 11 of his last 14 years of competitive basketball playing in Denver, South Beach, Hawaii, and Orange Couty…ROUGH LIFE!
