When Your Arm Gets Hit, the Ball is Not Going to Go Where You Want It To

That was said by none other than John Madden. BOOM! Only he could say something so obvious, yet make it sound so, ummm, intelligent? No, I don’t think that is the word, but he was unbelievably entertaining. Plus, he affected my knowledge for football more than anything else starting back with the original Madden Football video game. I have owned every single version of the game, except Madden 98 (which I still think was the worse upgrade of the greatest video game series of all time).
Arguably, the most well-known football commentator of all-time retired from the booth this past April after an illustrious 30-year career. What a lot of people don’t realize is that not only did he win a Super Bowl with the Oakland Raiders back in 1977, but he was the youngest coach to reach 100 wins (he finished with 103 wins in only 10 seasons) and ranks first in overall winning percentage in NFL history. I will leave you with this from our good friend Hunter S. Thompson…
“John Madden can make a dull game vaguely interesting, in the same way he can no doubt spice up a long trip on Amtrak, as he rides the rails from town to town like some kind of Wandering Jew with a gold-plated potbelly and a stolen Xerox copy of his old Raiders playbook.” – HST, 1985
