White Chocolate Back in Florida

The Orlando Magic found a quality backup for starting point guard Jameer Nelson in veteran Jason Williams, who did not play last season, on Wednesday. White Chocolate retired at the beginning of last season after he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers (I would retire if I ended up on the Clippers as well).

The former #7 pick out of Florida is most remembered for his flashy play starting all the way back in high school when he was a teammate of Randy Moss and then on the Sacramento Kings with Chris Webber. After 10 years in the league with the Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, and Miami Heat, Williams finds himself back in the League. He has a career average of 11.4 points and 6.3 assists through 679 games.

Williams helped the Heat win the NBA Championship in 2006 with Shaquille O’Neal & Dwayne Wade and will be expected to take on more of a backup role in Orlando with Dwight Howard, Rashard Lewis & the newly acquired Vince Carter. The Magic made it to the 2009 NBA Finals before losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games earlier this year.

Due to NBA retirement rules, Williams will not be able to compete until September 26.

I hope he dusts off some old school White Chocolate YouTube highlights with Dwight & Vinsanity crashing the rim!
